Athens High School will #TurnItGold

By August 24, 2016 No Comments

Athens High School will celebrate its annual Homecoming football game against Vinton County on Friday, September 23rd. Kick-off is at 7:00 pm. Charlie Dina, the inspiration for Turn It Gold, will help kick-off the game at 7:00 pm by leading the Bulldogs onto the field. The theme of Athens’ homecoming is “Turn It Gold. Coming home to support our own…No bulldog fights alone.” Turn It Gold will present a student at Athens High, Amanda Lasure, with a Bravery Award at the game. Amanda is currently receiving treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma. Homecoming festivities will feature events that turn the school gold to raise awareness about Childhood Cancer including a homeroom door decorating contest, parade float contest, pep rally and bonfire. Student athletes will share daily public service announcements about childhood cancer through the school’s PA system, at the pep rally, and in video form at the football game. Even if you can’t make it to the game, you can still help the team reach their fundraising goal. Big thank you goes out to all the amazing people and businesses that are participating! Thanks to the following for being BOLD in the fight against Childhood Cancer: Heiners, Truevalue, Zonez, Jason Reed, Hyacinth Bean, Larry’s, Spice, Subway, Trophy Shop & Autoplex.

Homecoming t-shirts will be available online through Zonez.
